Santa finally came to our house.
It took Ingrid pretty much all day to open her presents. She kept losing interest. Santa's gonna have to try harder next year!
This year Ingrid's main gift was a dollhouse. Derek and Ingrid have been talking about it all year.
But first she got to open her stocking upstairs in mommy and daddy's bed. It only took about two hours.
Later we rang in the new year early with a short walk in the rain.
So long 2010.
2011 is going to be a big year!
My favourite Christmas 2010 memory? Here goes...
I love to sing to Ingrid. I'm not saying I'm good at it but she seems to like it. So I do a lot of it. As part of our bedtime routine, I will rock with Ingrid for a little while and sing some songs to her. Every night it's the same songs. One of my favourites is In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride. Turns out it's also one of her favourites.
One night while sitting at the Andersen table doing some colouring, Ingrid, obviously tired, climbed down out of her chair and came over to my side of the table. She looked up at me and said "My daughter's eyes?" I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her sweetness. But I knew it was a moment I'd want to remember forever. It was proof that she actually listens to me while I sing to her and knew that she actually wanted me to sing her to sleep that night. Precious child.
