The most interesting part of a walking tour around Speyer that we did in the freezing cold and pouring cold was the ruins of a Jewish synagogue. The story behind it was pretty cool but far too involved to relate here (and I already forget much of it anyway). But I do recall that it was hidden from the Nazis during the war, remarkably.
