The Kaiserdom, a cathedral built in 1043, is a very big church. My brother got married in the equally beautiful but much smaller chapel on Friday. We did a tour of the church and found this. From a distance all the candles were sparkling and it reminded me of the television coverage I remember seeing after 911. I remember seeing mourners from all over the world sitting in front of candle displays just like this. I took pictures of it using no flash and a high ISO and got a really good effect. Unfortunately the plaque next to it telling us what it was for was all in German so I didn't understand what it was for but we all paid one euro each lit two candles. I lit one for me and one for Derek. I didn't actually pray. I just thought it was really nice.
