I was certain today's photo would be one from our Christmas lighting activities since we all went outside to string up our tradition half dozen or so strings of lights. But it isn't.

I diligently went to work and decked out the deck. Meanwhile, Derek got out the ladder and appeared to be in the mood to hang lights but like Ingrid, he is easily distracted by snow. Within moments both he and Ingrid were rolling snowballs around on the grounds in the weak hope of making another snowman. Sadly, there wasn't enough snow. So instead he worked on a very creative and impressive snow turtle. After a while Ingrid started insisting on going to the park so I took her while Derek stayed behind to finish up his turtle. He joined us a short while later with Ingrid's slide. We played at the park for a little while but then we decided it was time for Ingrid's inaugural sledding experience and headed over to the modest hill by the school.

To say she loved it would be the world's greatest understatement. She shrieked with delight on her way down and kept asking for more before she even came to a stop. With the exception for one minor wipe out that she keeps talking about, it was a lovely experience for all involved. I think we'll be doing a lot of this in the coming months.
